We've always heard about promoters getting screwed over, but never did we think it would be us. Dam Funk's agent has booked him to play Amsterdam on the same date because it was a better deal, despite our contract. We printed 5,000 flyers and posters before he told us.
Never being ones to give up, we've got one of our favourite DJs in the whole world to play instead; El-B. The word legendary gets thrown around a lot but El-B is just that; an icon of UK Garage who laid down the foundations of what morphed into Dubstep. Groove Chronicles, Ghost Records and well, THOSE fucking drums.... we are over the moon to have him finally guest at IAC.
Joining El-B is Rinse FM's only experimental Hip Hop DJ, Alexander Nut. His sets are regarded as some of the most forward thinking and boundary pushing out there, and his mix for the 'Rinse: 08' CD is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Next up there's Bullion, playing his incredible psych-soul cloaked Hip Hop. Despite first becoming a bit of an internet sensation for 'Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee', his mashup of The Beach Boys and J-Dilla, he has quickly become one of the finest and highest regarded new producers in the country.
And then there's Joy Orbison. What can we say about this 22 year old boy that hasn't been said already? 'Hyph Mngo' is perhaps the greatest track of the year. We fucking love him.
The Main Room is completed by DJ Violence, Jackie Faliraki and, of course, Team Mega Mix.
Room 2 is hosted by the Top Nice crew. The room features Paul B Davis, the founder of Beige records famed for his re-programmed Nintendo cartridges and The 8-Bit Construction Set 12", plus the hotly tipped producer Sampha, Dem Gone, Orbid-Sill and Top Nice residents Louis Enchante and Hampus Time.
All this for £5! IAC 18 is going to be nuts.
